So Many FO's
We saw some fabulous finished objects over the weekend.
Libby knit this shawl out of the Handmaiden Sea Silk. It's lovely and light and perfect.

Alice knitted this shell for her daughter, Caroline. The yarn is the Vermont Organic Fiber Company's O-Wool Balance, color Amethyst and she used the Green Gable pattern from ZephyrStyle.

Fran made these wristwarmers out of Malabrigo in Autumn Forest. The pattern came from Fall 2005 Interweave Knits in the Yarn Spotlight section on page 7. She knit them shorter than the pattern called for so it looks like she will be able to get two pair out of one skein!

Marge knit this beautiful sweater out of Blue Sky Alpacas Alpaca and Silk in the Ruby color. The drape is so slinky and nice.

Melissa has been working on this blanket for a very, very long time. So far, we had only seen bits and pieces, a few squares here, a few sewn-together-quadrants there. We were so excited to see it all finished and put together! Well, it isn't quite finished, she is going to put a fabric backing on it. But, it is absolutely magnificent. She used all sorts of different yarns, from Cashsoft DK to Blue Sky Alpaca Sportweight to Lurex Shimmer. She used the book 200 Knitted Blocks as an inspirational jumping off point but on the whole, this blanket was entirely her vision. Magnificent!

This isn't knitting but it is way too cool. Katie went to Penland for two weeks and took a Natural Dyeing and Weaving class there. Before she left, she came in to the shop and bought lots of different kinds of yarns in shades of white and cream. In the class, they gathered all sorts of plants from around the school there in North Carolina and cooked those up for the dyeing. All the range of color that you see here comes from plants! It's amazing. After dyeing the skeins of yarn, she wove them into these two wraps.

And here's a gratuitous cute baby shot:
